Here’s an interesting tidbit about McGill’s administrative bloat. Each year, McGill is required by law to report to the Québec government on the number of administrative personnel of its academic units, and their average salary. In 2014-15 there were 78, with an average salary of 159,555. By 2023-24 there were 178, with an average salary of 200,087.
McGill is also required to report on the number of “senior administrative personnel” and on their salaries. (These are not included in the calculation of the preceding paragraph.) In 2014-15 there were 36, with an average salary of just over 242,000. In 2023-24 there were 44, with an average salary of 327,357, and a maximum salary – Christopher Manfredi’s – of 835,000.
